Audition slots are less than 10 minutes. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes. YEA has scholarships available for young people ages 8 to 20. YEA provides exceptional free training in acting, singing, and dancing for students awarded scholarships. The company has workshops every Saturday from 12p-4p. In addition, there are weekday evening rehearsals before many performances. To maintain this scholarship, ensemble members are required to attend workshops and rehearsals, be on time and act professionally (the scholarship agreement will be available at auditions for review). Ensemble members are also required to perform in productions in which they are cast. YEA alumni include Keenan Thompson (Saturday Night Live), Sarh Ngaujah (Star of Broadway’s “Fela!”) and Saycon Sengbloh (star of Broadway’s “Wicked” & “Motown the Musical.”) YEA has performed before 1 million people around the world and has been honored at the White House for excellence in the arts.
